Project Infuse serves as a senior thesis ecosystem bridging culinary science and accessible UX design. This integrated platform features a mobile application for ingredient translation and discovery, a physical spice subscription box, and technical infographics detailing flavor profiles. By merging human-computer interaction principles with culinary education, the project demystifies global seasonings via a cohesive digital-to-physical brand experience.

Research
The research for Infuse investigated the "translation gap" within the American grocery system, where anglicized labeling and unfamiliar retail layouts create barriers for immigrant home cooking. Through primary interviews and an audit of existing food-tech, the study identified that high costs and food waste often stem from a lack of information on ingredient substitution and reuse.
By mapping these friction points, the research established a framework for a design-led ecosystem that moves beyond simple access, focusing instead on cultural translation and empowering users to preserve their heritage through the everyday act of cooking.

Product 1: Infographics
These infographics bridge the gap between global spice origins and local accessibility by mapping Charlotte’s regional ethnic food landscape. Using data-driven visualizations, they track ingredient freshness and availability across different neighborhoods while providing a detailed breakdown of spice flavor profiles and pairing logic. The resulting "roadmap" simplifies complex culinary traditions into actionable insights, helping users navigate international markets and master authentic flavors.
Product 2: Subscription Boxes
The Infuse Subscription is a low-barrier physical extension of the app, delivering three curated spices and a guided recipe card for $6.99/month. Designed to eliminate the high cost and waste of bulk-buying specialty items, it provides a structured, affordable way for users to master traditional flavors one meal at a time. This monthly touchpoint builds culinary confidence by transforming intimidating ingredients into accessible kitchen staples.
Product 3: Mobile App
The Infuse mobile application functions as a digital bridge between complex culinary information and the retail environment. Designed with a minimalist, high-tech aesthetic, the interface facilitates real-time ingredient discovery and flavor profile education, specifically targeting specialty spices and seasonings. Core features include an interactive database for spice translation, detailed chemical and cultural insights for ingredients like cumin and turmeric, and a seamless integration with the physical subscription service to guide the cooking process through a structured design system.
